● MTP/MPO Cassettes
MTP/MPO cassette, as a high density pre-terminated fiber optic system designed for data centers, storage area networks and local area networks, is a modular module which enables users taking the fibers brought by a trunk cable and distributing them to a duplex cable. This innovative system can reduce installation time and save space, making application simple: mount the cassette, pull or place the cables and plug the cables into cassette. Whether the distance between devices are a few feet or hundreds of meters, the data rates are 100 Mb/s, 1 Gb/s or even 10 Gb/s, MTP/MPO optical fiber solution is an excellent option. As a kind of pre-terminated fiber product, MPO/MTP cassettes are loaded with 8, 12, 24 or 36 fibers, LC or SC adapters on the front side and MTP/MPO at the rear. This is to say, inside a standard MPO/MTP cassette module, there is a hydra cable. Since the interface of today’s most popular 10G optics is LC connector, at present, there are three types of cassettes applied widely: 1xMTP(8-Fiber) to 4xLC duplex cassettes, 1xMTP(12-Fiber) to 6xLC duplex cassettes and 1xMTP(24-Fiber) to 12xLC duplex cassettes.
In fact, besides MTP/MPO-LC/SC cassettes mentioned above, there exists another type of MTP/MPO cassettes. That is MTP/MPO-MTP/MPO conversion cassettes. MTP/MPO conversion cassettes are loaded with 8, 12 or 24 fibers and have MPO or MTP adapters on the both front and rear side. Generally, 2xMTP-24 to 4xMTP-12 and 3xMTP-8 to 2xMTP-12 MTP conversion cassettes are applied commonly in the market.
